Sharing Christ’s Love Through Every Challenge

Care & Support

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Jesus (Matthew 5:4)
Life’s challenges are inevitable, but no one has to face them alone. At Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, we are committed to being a Joy-Filled Community that reflects God’s love through compassionate care and support. Our team of Deacons and trained volunteers are ready to walk alongside you in times of need, whether you are a member of our church or not. From practical assistance to praying with and for you, we live into our core value of Love Compelled Service. You can connect with us by visiting on a Sunday or using one of the options below.

Food and Clothing Support

If you need assistance with food or clothing, make an appointment with our friendly volunteers at the Care Cottage. The Care Cottage, located next to our parking lot on Lacassie Avenue, provides a welcoming space for anyone in need. Volunteers will assist you in finding clothes and choosing grocery items, all free of charge. These items are donated by our congregation and the community, as well as the Contra Costa Food Bank.

During the Christmas season, our clothing closet transforms into a toy store, providing gifts at no cost for families who need a little extra help. This is part of our ongoing commitment to serve our neighbors with Christ’s love and generosity.

Care Ministries

Memorials

In times of loss, we are here to provide comfort and support. WCPC is honored to help families celebrate the lives of their loved ones with memorial services held in our sanctuary.

Home Visits

When attending church isn’t possible, WCPC brings the church to you. Our team of chaplains, home visitors, and Deacons offer spiritual support to those in isolation due to illness, age, or other circumstances. Whether through home communion, prayer, letters of encouragement, or simply companionship, we seek to bring the presence of Christ into your home, creating a space for connection and hope.

For more information, contact [email protected] and include your specific need in the subject line.

Divorce Care

Divorce can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. WCPC offers a weekly Divorce Care class for adults going through separation or divorce. This supportive group provides a safe space to process emotions such as anger, loneliness, and depression while learning tools for moving forward. You’ll also find practical help with challenges and discover the healing power of forgiveness.

Boundaries

Setting healthy boundaries can be difficult, especially in complicated family dynamics. Whether you’re struggling with saying no, managing relationships after a divorce, or navigating strained parent/child relationships, WCPC offers a 10-week Boundaries class. Based on the Cloud and Townsend book and DVD series, this class will equip you with the skills to set appropriate boundaries for your life, all in a supportive, faith-filled environment.

“Following Jesus has been the most important, and wonderful, part of my life! I love helping others get to know Jesus and grow to be more like him. And I love how God uses the church community as a part of that journey.”
